Lower back and hip pain can occur together due to several causes, such as muscle, joint, and nerve disorders.
Symptoms
Hip pain can scale from mild aches to acute pain which impacts your day to day life. Depending on the primary cause of your hip pain, you may feel tenderness or stiffness in the thigh, groin, inside the hip joint, outside the hip joint, buttocks, side of the hip, lower back, sciatica pain or even the knee sometimes, you may find yourself limping or adjusting your walking style due to constant hip pain.
Cause
There are many causes of hip pain, a chiropractor will do physical examination of the entire musculo-skeletal system to understand the cause, a chiropractor evaluate the lumbar spine, pelvic bones and joints, as well as the hip socket to understand the issue and what needs to be corrected, hip pain can also be result of knee, ankle and foot issues such as flat feet or having an irregular leg length one can be shorter than another if untreated on time may cause chronic issues like arthritis, others can be herniated disc, slip disc. When you have an imbalance or instability in your pelvis or joints, it can cause muscles pain in that region and create hip pain. Pelvic imbalance is often the cause of injuries in the hip region especially with athletes and active people.
Treatment
This will depend on the results of the examination by a chiropractor. At A-Plus Wellness Centre we treat our patient through, chiropractic manipulation, decompression, postural correction, exercise programs and behavioral changes.
Sciatica:
Symptoms
Are you experiencing lower back pain going down to the legs with shooting, piercing pain? You are probably suffering from Sciatica Pain. This is the longest nerve in the body running from the buttocks right down to the toes. The nerve can experience pain whenever you have a trapped nerve, herniated disc, Piriformis Syndrome. Are you experiencing the following symptoms;
– Pain in the leg when seated.
– Tingling or burning sensation running down the leg.
– Numbness on the leg.
– Weakness or difficulty moving the leg.
– A constant pain on one side of your lower back.
– Sever and intolerable pain when standing up.
Cause
This is caused by a compression or irritation of a spinal nerve root in the lower back, which passes in the leg. Spinal Stenosis, herniated/bulging discs is the most common cause.
Treatment
There are different treatments to treat sciatica but most commonly used by a chiropractor is to apply spinal manipulations to allow a subluxation disc to rest back into position and take the pressure off the sciatic nerve. This adjustments can also free spinal movement and restore misaligned vertebral discs. This allows the chiropractor to gently move the lower back vertebral avoiding pressing on the sciatic nerve. This will lessen pain as well as regain nerve signal flow and mobility. Furthermore, manipulation would also ease muscle spasms, which can help with long term relief.
