Upper and middle back pain may be caused by: Overuse, muscle strain, or injury to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support your spine. Poor posture. Pressure on the spinal nerves from certain problems, such as a herniated disc.
Rotator Cuff Injury:
Symptoms
Pain on the shoulder, neck, heaviness of biceps muscle, weak hands, pain of shoulder blade.
Cause
Joint degeneration from aging or falling the wrong way can all result in a torn or partially torn rotator cuff. Most often the rotator cuff injuries are due to tendonitis and rotator cuff tears. Rotator cuff injuries effect the tendons that support the shoulder joint. Rotator cuff injuries can also happen when playing tennis or swimming and or involves repetitive movement of arm overhead and increase the likeliness of shoulder injury.
Treatment
Different massage techniques will be used to restore muscle and joint function as well as eliminate scar tissue and when the time is right a chiropractor will begin a stretching program to strengthen and improve joint stability. Chiropractic treatment is very effective to treat rotator cuff injuries and will effectively promote healing and eliminate the symptoms that causes pain.
Frozen Shoulder:
Symptoms
Pain in the shoulder, loss of motion and inability to raise arms, stiffness or tight shoulder. Over a period brushing your teeth or even dressing becomes a daily issue, the arm will have a loss of rotation, and everyday activities such as reaching over the head or even raising the arm above a certain point becomes almost impossible.
Cause
The actual cause is not known but frozen shoulder starts with an inflammation of the joint capsule of the shoulder joint. This shoulder joint holds the bones of the shoulder to each other with ligaments. Some causes are associated due to injury of shoulder or surgery, postmenopausal in women, cervical disc subluxation disease, people with diabetes are like to suffer from frozen shoulder. Getting early treatment of frozen shoulder would be the best way to prevent stiffness leading to a more severity.
Treatment
Frozen shoulder is also know as ‘adhesive capsulitis’ common chiropractic technique used to treat frozen shoulder is manipulation of the joints and muscle tissues. A chiropractor may apply pressure and stretches the key points to help reduce pain and resolve the condition, this technique makes intense difference in a patient’s life.
Frozen Shoulder Stages, is a slow and progressive condition that follows three stages: The Freezing Stage: In the initial stage, shoulder pain is felt, but the pain gets worse over a time, progressively limiting movement of the shoulder and arm, later the pain gets sharp and constant. This will would last for weeks or several Months.
The Frozen Stage: During this stage the shoulder reaches it’s maximum restricted movement. Pain is often felt when moved beyond restricted point and moving at the back, or to bring the hand above the height of the shoulder. This may last for up to nine to ten Months.
The Thawing Stage: After the frozen stage, the patient will slowly be able to increase the range of motion. At this stage it naturally heals where the frozen shoulder typically thaws within 12 to 18 months, without any treatment. This is still a mystery to most doctors and therapists.
